Our Mission
Why Are We Here?
YCTA was founded as an answer to the lack of standardized training that addresses the needs of crew in the midsized charter yacht industry — especially those new to this exciting and challenging field. The courses designed by YCTA are specifically designed by crew, for crew. Our goal is to set a practical and achievable standard for training on midsized yachts that adequately prepares people for positions on yachts.
What Our Graduates Are Saying
Hear from those who have taken it
I can't believe I spent a whole year trying to understand the structure and expectations of the charter industry, when I could have just taken this course and learnt everything in a week. These modules are extremely comprehensive and full of valuable information — and the course is really fun and engaging. I particularly enjoyed the maintenance simulations, including a full engine service.
As an experienced captain with over a decade in the industry, YCTA represents everything I wish I knew when I was starting out. A strong tool for new crew, and one that will drive standardization in the mid-sized charter range.
After three years as a captain in the mid-sized sector, I was tired of learning everything through trial and error. My Offshore Yachtmaster was great for driving, but I needed more industry-specific insight. YCTA gave me clarity on contract protection, haul-outs, and managing crew and guest expectations — and it was the first course to use a simulator for practical tasks like changing water pumps and fixing clogged heads. I am walking away with a solid knowledge base and practical tips I cannot wait to use on my next boat.
As someone with absolutely no yachting experience, YCTA provided exactly what I needed to start my career. It gave me essential baseline knowledge, the confidence to step into my first role, and realistic expectations about the industry.
It provides the practical knowledge and realistic preparation needed to succeed in the mid-sized yacht charter industry, covering the entire lifecycle of operations — from pre-charter planning and crew expectations to guest experience and vessel systems. The content is engaging, structured, and highly relevant to real-world scenarios. It offers impressive depth and requires real dedication, but for those willing to put in the time it is a highly rewarding experience that builds the confidence and versatility to be a successful charter professional.
The Charter Professional is everything I wish I had when I was starting out as a yacht chef. After ten years in the industry, it's clear the material would give any aspiring yacht chef a huge leg up in their career.
